One to OneIt is becoming rapidly apparent that one to one sessions with students is a wonderful way of being able to learn the basics of photography in a practical and visual way; being accompanied in the field by a highly experienced photographer discussing the basics of photography and immediately being able to put new ideas into practise enables the student to remember what he/she has been taught and be able to use the techniques by themselves. When out and about with a camera situations present themselves and we can help you to exploit them, the adjacent image of the swan and the above image of the vivid red flowers against a cobalt blue sky are two very recent examples with a student; he was able to take, record, photograph and remember the day. |

Holiday SnapsI am pleased to reproduce a recent brief article that I wrote on improving your holiday photographs:"Gazing out of my window wondering at the vagaries of a British Summer my thoughts turn away from politicians’ antics to the pleasures of travel in warmer climes; surely one of the greater pleasures of travel is the enjoyment of the pictures we bring back with us? Sometimes such images can be disappointing as they seem to be missing something, somehow they don’t reflect our memories however without having to gain a masters in the black arts of photography it is an easy matter to rectify. As the late great war photographer Robert Capa was alleged to have said if your picture isn’t good enough you aren’t close enough; his 3 rules of photography were:
In other words when you take your picture try to get as close to your subject as you can without suffocating it and eliminate all those interferences that compete with your message. Eliminate the redundant: don’t force everything possible in your picture, concentrate your camera on the subject that has captured your attention. A very common error is camera shake resulting in a blurred picture; if you have ever fired a rifle you know how to squeeze a shutter without jabbing at it; the same goes for a camera, squeeze rather than push that shutter button on a well held and if possible supported camera, do use any support that is available." I sincerely hope you enjoy your photography.Peter Jones revised 16/01/12. |

Photography Training CoursesPhotoExperiences has been launched to improve the photography of anyone not just the experienced amateur or enthusiast for whom there are plenty of courses but mainly for those beginning in photography.Digital evolution means that individuals are communicating with pictures as never before whether by email, by mobile phone or by public websites such as Facebook; people are using photography rather than words to let their friends and families know what is going on with their lives; never before has the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" had so much validity. PhotoExperiences sets out to improve the photography of the individual regardless of the purpose to which their photography is being put to. In general the modern camera does an adequate job of recording a photograph with minimal input from the photographer however imagine the improvement that can be gained from your images with just a little thought and input; this is where we come in; for more details please telephone 01494 678616 or .
